Design Principles and Methods

This design project was part of the class ECSE 211. The objective of the course was to design, build and program an autonomous robot using a Lego Mindstorm EV3 kit, as well as Lejos, a Java replacement firmware for the kit. The robot had to be capable of navigating itself through a series of obstacles on a tiled surface and finally shoot a ball through a hoop.

We were separated in teams of 6 people, and were each assigned different roles and tasks to perform over the 6 week long design project. I took upon the role as Testing Leader. My job was to test all new software and hardware developed by the Software and Hardware teams. I also tested the robot's sensors and motors, and further aided the team with designing the robot.

Finally, this design project allowed me to work in a team as well as manage various tasks and resposiblities. I further worked on my skills as a programmer and helped write a few blocks of code.

Summer Research Project

This summer research project involved designing a Corona Polling Apparatus* with the use of the 3D modelling software Solidworks. I worked alongside McGill Professor Sharmistha Bhadra in the VLSI (Very-Large-Scale Intergration) Design Laboratory. The project lasted a total of two months during the summer and I spent over 150 hours on it.

This project enabled me to work with a software I never have worked with before: Solidworks. I learned quite a lot on this software, and towards the end of the project, I became comfortable in using it. I also had the opportunity to work alongside Don Pavlasek, the Machine Shop Supervisor, who aided me in perfecting my design. Furthermore, in laboratory, I got to be acquainted and spend time with Professor Bhadra's PhD students who guided me and introduced me to life after a Bachelor's Degree.

*A Corona Polling Aparatus is a device that aligns the dipoles in a film in order to transform it into a piezoelectric material, a substance that displays electrical properties when subject to a mechanical force.

My Website Project

---

A personal project of mine to design my own website (this one) using HTML5 and CSS3, as well as the help of Bootstrap, a web-development framework. This project allowed me to learn a new markup language (HTML5) and a style sheet language as well as familiarize myself with web-development.

I worked on this project during the whole summer of 2017, at first learning the languages with the help of Beginning HTML5 and CSS3 for Dummies, making sure that I acquired and mastered the very basics, by practicing on Cloud 9 (c9.io). I then spent the second half of the summer working on the website itself, with a huge boost from Bootstrap's various templates as a guide.

McGill Tennis Team

I have been a member of the McGill Tennis Team for the past year and helped the University win the Quebec Championships and qualify for nationals.

My Individual Career

---

I have been playing tennis since I was 8 and competitively since I was 10. I competed on both the provincial and national level, achieving a career high ranking of 4th in Quebec and 16th in Canada.
